![]() So, while the ice cream is delicious and a great deal, I wouldn't recommend making a trip out of your way just to get a serving of ice cream for $1. They had about 12-16 flavors available.Īs I said, we kind of made a special trip and went out of our way to go here, more for the factory tour aspect. The highlight of the visit, as others have mentioned, is getting a generous 2 1/2-3 scoop serving of ice cream in a cup for $1. It was interesting, but definitely not what I would call a factory tour. So, we only got to see a little bit of the filling process. Blue Bell, the Brenham creamery still trying to recapture customers it lost during a 2015 listeria outbreak, is now coping with an industrywide trend of slower growth in ice cream sales. Actually, when we got there, maybe around 2 pm, they were already starting to shut down the lines, one by one, to do their cleaning process of the equipment. The only thing relating to the ice cream making process was a set of 3 viewing windows where we could look down at 3 different ice cream "packaging" lines that were running. According to Mashed, the most popular flavor Blue Bell sells is classic Homemade Vanilla. I was disappointed that, at least at the time/day we visited, there was no real "tour" - we walked up to the second floor, where there was a gift shop and an ice cream shop. The most popular flavor of Blue Bell ice cream is homemade vanilla. Blue Bell fans should also be on the lookout for the return of on all-time favorite flavor: Ice Cream Cone. We made a special trip to go to Sylacauga just to take a "factory tour" at the Blue Bell Creamery. When will employees realize that they do themselves out of a job in the long run with their own actions when those actions discourage customers from coming again.? They would do better not to even have this. When gift shop opened the prices for the Bluebell Christmas ornaments were $40 (most places have them for $12-$15) so I bought a couple cheap Bluebell key chains and will hang them on our tree. The guys appeared to be employees - whole thing was tacky. A young female employee on factory floor (supervisor) was mouthing inappropriately to men who were near us on the 2nd floor viewing windows. Take advantage of this amazing opportunity to indulge in the best flavors of Latin. Also a lot of inappropriate behavior between employees everywhere. Presented with the iconic pairing of Blue Bell vanilla ice cream drizzled. Waited over 1/2 an hour to get into gift shop and only got in because another employee heard us talking about it. When we finally said something after she said she'd come and made us wait another 5 minutes. Employee came back and supervisor then sat down to visit with a friend. We decided to wait and she could clearly see us waiting. When I asked why it was closed the woman (clearly a supervisor) was behind the ice cream counter & said she would open it shortly(employee on break). It was Friday 11pm (6/21)& gift shop was closed & many people tried to go in as marked as open. The ice cream was our first mission & delicious of course (huge variation in how much was served based on the server) but overall visit was discouraging. Drove 1 1/2 hours out of our way to visit & not impressed.
